OEM gearing on a 5-speed is the same as a 6-speed up to and including 5th gear, which is 1:1 ratio. 6th gear is .86:1. The problem with a VRSCF engine being used in another model is the front exhaust port studs that are positioned for the left side exit. It also has the oil dip stick positioned in the right side clutch ...It will not be an easy swap. It can be made to fit. The 2001 has a Magnetti Marelli EFI and you will need the wiring harness and more if yours doesn't have the MM EFI. With the amount you will likely spend to do the conversion you can probably buy a later model used TwinCam ready to ride. Good luck and post pictures if you decide to do it.…
