It's one thing to use part 90 radios on GMRS. Yes, they are approved for commercial freq's, but they are still not part 95 GMRS approved. That won't get you in trouble, but using a ham radio to transmit above 450 MHz is totally illegal. But as others said if you do it on the downlow, nothing will "probably" happen.The license fee for GMRS is cheap enough. Also there are reasonably priced hand held radios for GMRS. There are some decently priced Ham radios, in the $100 to $200 range, that are a step above the usual Chinese ones. In either case you want a radio that is at least water proof for out door used in the rain etc.
