Coal measures
The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) publishes three measures of how much coal is left in the United States. The measures are based on various degrees of geologic certainty and on the economic feasibility of mining the coal. EIA's estimates for the amount of coal reserves as of January 1, 2022, by type of reserve are:Geologists of the older generation proposed the term of "coal measure gas (CMG)" in as early as the 1980s, and presciently pointed out its important role and strategic position in future natural gas resources in China [1], [2], [3].Strictly, CMG refers to natural gas stored in coal measures, and is defined as a mineral resource only based on the reservoir genetic type or geological carrier.
