Looks like mid-1989 they changed to the 15 amp charging system with a voltage regulator and the headlamps run off the battery so will work ... That was why they put 22's on the 310's and 312's to give enough clearance for that specific deck. As far as tranny ratios, again, no problem. They used pretty much the same tranny across the line either in a 1" or 1-1/8" axle configuration.
