The difference in the two is that mpiicc uses icc, and mpicc allows you to select the compiler, defaulting to gcc. But there's definitely something wrong here. Please run the following commands and attach the output.txt file: [plain]echo "***mpicc show" > output.txt. mpicc -show -o gtest mpi-test.c >> output.txt. echo "***mpiicc show" >> output.txthwloc, unlike OMPI and Libfabric, doesn't dlopen libcuda, hence the inherited dependency. hwloc can dlopen its own plugins to avoid such dependencies (configure with --enable-plugins or --enable-plugins=cuda,nvml,opencl,...) but we don't do it by default, and I seem to remember that two levels of plugins (hwloc plugins loaded by the OMPI hwloc plugin) would cause some problems (with namespaces?).However, these flags will *not* be used by mpicc and friends. HPE Cray MPI is a CUDA-aware MPI implementation. This means that the programmer can use pointers to GPU device memory in MPI buffers, and the MPI implementation will correctly copy the data in GPU device memory to/from the network interface card's (NIC's) memory, either by implicitly copying the data first to host memory and then copying the data from host memory to the NIC ...MPI is a standard with multiple implementations, some academic and others commercial. MPI implementations typically wrap the compiler, so to use it you would normally build your code with mpicc (which adds MPI's include and library folder paths).. The problem is that many RPM-based Linux distributions seem to install MPI releases outside the PATH.

That will install the compiler wrappers like mpicc, mpifort, mpif90 and so on. These two files can be compiled using mpicc, and nvcc respectively into object files (.o) and combined into a single executable file using mpicc. This second option is an opposite compilation of the above, using mpicc, meaning that you have to link to your CUDA library. ….
