Once out, dump the old fork oil and then use 1/4 of a can of automatic transmission fluid to flush each fork. Pour in the 1/4 can, pump the fork from full up to full down 10 times, and dump out the ATF. Repeat with a second 1/4 can. Do the same on the other fork thus using an entire can of ATF. The dealer told me that Honda sent them new page inserts to change all of the vtx1300's to read 10W-30. Said there were so many manuals envolved, it seemed to take forever. I have owned several shaft drive bikes, and never had to do more than just change the oil and lube splines at the final drive. I looked at the service manual, and all it shows is change the final drive oil every 24,000 miles. I ran the 20/50 Amsoil with out a problem, the engine ran about 10 degrees cooler. The only problem I found was in the southern Calif. winters the engine would have a hard time coming up to operating temp. Ran about 190/200 and on 10/40 it runs 210/ 220*.

I think you will be fine with "mineral oil" vs. synthetic and others have said that the specific weight you have is okay (I know nothing about the weight issue).
