On October 2nd, 1970, two planes departed from Wichita, Kansas carrying the Wichita State football team players, coaches, staff, and boosters. Both the “Black” and the “Gold” planes completed the first leg of the trip successfully and landed in Denver, Colorado to refuel. In early October he's surprised to hear of the plane crash in Colorado which killed the entire Wichita State football team. He relearns what he always knew, that death, unfair death happens in the "world" (the United States) too.
