Rear diff issues and grinding. I bought this Ridgeline (2006 with 111 000 km's) in november 2012, i did a major clean up, changed a lot and put about 2k worth of repairs. There was a slight growling noise when i turned sharply. I had the rear diff fluid changed and transfer case fluid changed and it went away.77 posts · Joined 2007. #4 · Nov 16, 2015. There isn't a front differential to service, but on some years there is a transfer case that uses a little 80w-90 gear lube. It depends on the year. On the early first gen it used the atf, then in I think 06 they separated the front differential from the transmission.

I did the oil and filter myself at 7,500 but since this one needed extras like the rear differential and various inspections I decided to have the dealer do it. The total charge was $160.64.1) Place oil drain pan. 2) Open fill plug (3/8 square drive direct) with breaker bar & 3" extension. 3) Open drain plug (same 3/8 drive) with breaker bar. I had a Ridgeline prior and left a bed mat on the garage floor and when I came in from walking the dog I noticed a drip mark on the matt. I changed the fluid in my rear differential the other day and I used HGO-1 75W-85 Honda Fluid (082000-9014) instead of the Dual Pump II fluid (08200-9007). Am I in trouble? Should I drain it and put the 08200-9007 fluid in or am I good for the next 15,000 miles?Brake fluid is known to eat painted surfaces. If you are a "DIY'er" and replace pads-PLEASE siphon out some brake fluid prior to retracting the caliper pistons. For reference, on a 'new' Ridgeline the VTM fluid is to be changed around 15,000 miles. After that 1st change the interval stretches to 30k, so the 2nd change would be around 45K, and so on.
