Hi I have coughed up a clear jelly ball this morning but on a couple of occasions in the last 8 months have been to hospital for coughing up heavily blood stained mucus! The consultant was thorough due to the blood and did a chest X-ray; head CT, bloods & ECG which all came back normal apart from a bit of fluid on the lung.A collapsing trachea can often be seen on chest x-rays.
