So, I have a 2002 Kawasaki Prairie 650 Brute Force with under 500 miles on it. Extremely clean machine. I bought my wife a 04 prairie 360, it's got around 3000kms and close to 450 hours. Great shape. Last run we had her speedo stopped working, the hour meter and backlight still works so it can't be an electrical issue with the head unit. I understand the 4wd works off of the speed sensor. If there is lubricant, then that could be the issue. If the primary were to go on to far, the cooling fins on the back of the clutch could hit the metal plate behind it.The torque converter and clutches should be inspected by someone that knows what to look for. Worn clutches and sheaves will trash a new belt in jig time. I do not remember if the 02 has the automatic clutch engagement actuator for compression braking, but if it does be sure it is checked.
