Controls. Needless to say, I’m a huge fan of Ruger firearms so when the chance to review another popped up I jumped! Now up for review is the Ruger Security 9. This gun has been around for a number of years now and has a somewhat rocky past. Let us dive in! Ruger Security 9.Dec 7, 2017 · Problems with the Security 9. Oh what a disappointment. And I like it so much. But it's an illusion. It's not a gun to like any more. The very first time at the range, the trigger froze up, locked up, tight after only 17 rounds of Fiocchi. Sent it in to Ruger and got it back a week later with a new trigger, springs, etc.

Mar 3, 2020 · Security 9 light strike issue resolved, finally! I bought a new Security 9 a few months ago and from day one I had light strike issues with it. Lately it's been 2-3 times per mag which is pretty bad. I was shooting factory Blazer Brass 115's and 124's as well as my reloads and the problem persisted no matter what ammo I used. I bought the Security 9 yesterday and have not fired it, cleaned it, oiled it, or anything. I have, however, run four magazines through and every round hangs up. First, all firearms need cleaned before you do anything with them! Then, if you have an issue, such as feeding ammo, I'd immediately stop and determine the cause of the problem.8 posts · Joined 2018. #5 · Feb 4, 2019. PC9 stove pipes. I have had the same problem with mine. Called Ruger and they claimed not a known problem. Took the bolt out of the receiver and polished all surfaces on it that touch any other metal during cycling. Took it home, disassembled, cleaned, and lubed it. Took it to my range and put 36 rounds of FMJ through the two mags that came with it. The pistol had 4 major problems.There is a problem with the precision of the slide-lock. When I first inspected it, I found it was really hard to get the slide stop to set, but was told it would loosen up with firing, and slingshot worked fine. After about 300 rounds, it's easier to set the slide stop. But the problem is the slide "locks out" on last round.Another Security 9 went for repairs before ever being fired. It had problems with the slide stop. If the slide was racked with an empty magazine, the magazine then dropped out, the slide would be stuck and would not move forward until between 3 and 14 tries were made. Ruger replaced the slide stop assembly.Is their an issue with Ruger Security 9. My gun jams constantly. I sent it in to Ruger to have it fixed. They did some work on it and said it worked perfectly. I let someone else shoot it and it jammed with him also. I've only tried two types of ammo in it. Wondering if it is an ammo issue or defect with the gun.Yes, pistol has been field stripped to clean and cleaned and oiled with CLP and the last time I used Hoppes bore solvent and gun oil. (Check your Manual as the guys have suggested and showed the Video, 3. Be sure the rear if the Guide Rod is properly located in the small grove on the Front of the Barrel Lug.
