Ram 2500 stuck in 4th gear

Transmission is stuck in 4th gear. cannot physically move the gear shift. Does anyone have a suggestion? I am not a heavy duty mechanic.19219 posts · Joined 2014. #6 · Apr 20, 2021. IIRC if it was reflashed to factory and was in limp mode, tuning with some tuners might not take it out of limp mode. The ECM might need to see itself out of limp mode, which would mean connecting the missing parts back on for it to see them to pop out of limp mode, and be tuned.Feb 12, 2019 · 2011. Basically all the problems with these transmissions are valve body related and the poor machining and casting quality of the components resulting in leakage. It acts like it's stuck in neutral all the time and all the lights work normally when selecting any of the gear selections. Pulled codes with scanner and got p0700 (which I believe is just to turn on the CEL) and p1776 Solenoid switch valve latched in the LR position. There is no reason for a stock truck not to shift past 4th, unless you are in limp-in mode (logical limp-in, which gives 1st-to-4th, or full limp-in [4th gear only]), or you're in ERS "4". Please drive it again and count the shifts, to make sure you're getting 1-2-3-4 and not just 1-4.
