Nshss is it a scam
My friend fell for the NSHSS Scam. My friend randomly asked me if I got one (I didn’t) and I, not knowing that she already paid for it, said it was kind of considered a scam. She was listing all the reasons that she’s heard it’s good (website says it not, seniors say it’s good, etc) and she told me she already paid for it. They are two different honor societies that have different eligibility requirements. Another significant difference is that the NSHSS has a membership fee, while the NHS does not. However, while you have to reapply each year to the NHS, you hold a lifetime membership with the NSHSS after you pay the $90 fee. 2. It will not hurt you, unless you make an active point of your membership (which will come off as insanely pretentious and clueless). That being said, it is basically nothing. It will do nothing tangible to help you. You have some scholarship access, but it's my understanding that it isn't significant.
