Oct 8, 2020 · Larian's implementation of sneak attack is... awkward. The reason dual wielding is generally seen as great fro rogues is because in 5e, sneak attack happens when you hit (i.e., it is not a special attack action as it is in BG3), so if you miss with your main hand attack you can still possibly hit with the offhand and apply sneak attack to THAT hit. This effect doesn't give +7 damage to offhand or ranged attacks made with advantage. However, it *does* give +7 damage to any Sneak Attack bonuses that trigger from main hand melee attacks, for a total of +14 damage to such attacks.
