The stock has several scratches and dings. The sling mount on the stock is gone. The receiver has some scratches and some pitting and is drilled and tapped for an optic.What you could have here is a JM Marlin that was sent back into the factory for repair. The receiver could have been entirely or partially replaced with NY made parts. I have seen this before on a JM era 336C 30-30. I too have a Remlin with a Marlin stamped barrel from the CT factory.

I'm in one of my LGS's that I hang out at and I see there are 3 Marlin "JM" stamped 336 30-30's on the rack. So naturally I want to take a look at them...I look at the markings on the barrel, one is "SC", one is "A", now, I've looked around abit but other than seeing that "yea, they are Marlin models" of the 336, what is the real difference?As the others have said, JM just means that it is a proper Marlin. Even JM Marlins show up from time to time with factory defects, but it's much less likely IMO. Your's looks really nice.
