Your choice of powder is not the best for light loads. Check the online reloading guides for youth loads. A powder like Clays, XtraLite or 700-X will serve you better. Also, 7/8 or 3/4-oz of shot will give you less recoil. I like WAA12L or CB0178-12 wads (both grey) for light loads in AA hulls.Larry from Cookeville, TN. CB8100-12 (TGT12) and CB1100-12 (WAA12SL) work with Nobel Sport 209 primer, 17.5/6 gr of Clay Dot powder. The crimps are a bit concave but holds the shot in. Don't feel the need to adjust the MEC JR for these loads as they are tossers. Crimps are find using CB0178-12 (the WAA12L clone).

But, nobody should rely on load data given on a discussion web as gospel. They should go by the loading manual or call the powder manufacturer if an unlisted substitution is considered.D L Marcum.
